The thought of your first triathlon can be a scary prospect for anyone so here we have a few tips to help beginners get ready for their first triathlon. The first myth to dispel is that not all triathletes are super-fit super hero's! Those taking part in Ironman Events certainly are, but for the large majority they are out to have fun and challenge themselves to just get round. Anyone can complete a beginner/novice triathlon as they are generally fairly short and a great introduction to the sport. There are also some women only events, again with a variety of course lengths to choose from. For more tips on the individual disciplines (transition is considered to be the 4th discipline), click below.
When you get to the event remember what your goals were when you started training. If it is just to finish don't start panicking when others come past you. Your challenge is with yourself and no one else! Finishing a triathlon is a fantastic achievement, no matter what time you do it in. Enjoy the race..............and the post race activities!
